In my last blog, I made reference to the fact that anyone who knows my children knows they are just slightly packed with personality. I thought it would be a fun exercise to type up an unofficial personality description of each of my children. Enjoy.
Kayla is six years old. Kayla spent the first four years of her life wanting to be five years old. Then in an effort to drive me crazy (it worked), the day after turning five she complained about wanting to be six years old. Kayla is my child who always wants more. She is high-maintenance at best. She is not content to be home, but wishes to be entertained constantly and to travel the entire globe each and every day. Her obsessive compulsive disorder has died down thankfully (you can read about that in my blog entry entitled simply 'Kayla'). She loves fashion and is actually pretty good at putting an outfit together. Seeing as I am fashion deficient, I often have her pick out my clothes for me. She is an aspiring creative chef. Just yesterday she created something she titled "Blueberry Splat Peach". It tasted like pie filling. It was actually delicious. Kayla has gone from being a shy, overly cautious toddler to being an outgoing, social butterfly. I am not sure how or when that happened, but the girl runs into people she knows wherever she goes. She is also an aspiring artist with a flair for color and sculpting. She is constantly creating artwork that is often beyond her six years. She has a sweet spirit and longs to tell everyone she comes in contact with about Jesus. I can see her being a great evangelist and leader some day in anything she does.
Lydia is four years old and will not tolerate being called a 'little girl'. For a while, she wouldn't even tolerate being called 'Lydia'. Her name changed daily, from 'Cinderella' to 'Princess Analiese' among others. She is stubborn and strong-willed and will gladly do the opposite of whatever you say. She is a champion pouter, as well. Lydia loves to dance and sing. Her memory is amazing and she memorizes most songs after only hearing them twice. She has most of the high school musical songs memorized, all three movies. I only have to start singing one, and she instantly jumps right into a rockin' duet with mommy. She is our resident comic. Everything Lydia does and says is hilarious, which makes it difficult to discipline her. I am usually too busy trying not to laugh out loud to dole out her punishment. She also sounds like she is from the Bronx, or Boston, or some New England state. Her accent does not peg her as a Pennsylvania native at all. She constantly asks if she looks like a beautiful princess. She is addicted to eating fuzzies. She used to shove them up her nose when she was upset and blow them back out again to calm herself down. No lie. Now she just eats them to get reactions out of people. I see Lydia standing firm in her faith, unwaveringly, in light of trials and persecutions that come her way.
Preston is 10 months old. I have never had a boy, and am often unsure of what to do with him. He enjoys banging things on the floor. He also enjoys wrestling with stuffed animals, pillows, blankets, and sometimes by accident, the hard wood floor. He loves to bother his sisters, mostly Lydia, because he can make her upset and finds this amusing. Oh, and he throws stuff when he is mad. If we are unsure of where he is at, all we need to do is growl loudly, and he will echo a growl from wherever he is, as growling seems to be his primary mode of communication at this point. He has an ever growing vocabulary, however, which includes the word 'stinky'. He loves people and already seems to have a way of making people love him. Have I mentioned he is gigantic? His head is above the 93rd percentile on growth charts. He does not love to eat vegetables....already. He is full of life and joy and has a contagious laugh and smile. He absolutely loves his daddy and has a special 'growl' for him every morning. He is my 'little man'.
The life and times of the Seymour family. Ordered Chaos is the best description of our lives together. Enjoy the pictures and stories.
